There are three fundamental ways to get information about opossums: 1) Ask a machine, 2) As a human being who knows something of opossums, and 3) Ask an opossum.

Links of the first two types are what you will typically see on the Internet.

Hightail It 'Possum Links (Ask a Machine)

These links are sometimes called Search Engine links. A machine (an engine) goes out and finds just everything out there that has to do with just about anything - in this case, opossums. That engine just chugs along, finding whatever it can out there on the WEB.

'Possum Network has set things up so that for most of these engines the asking is done automatically. You just click one of the Hightail It 'Possum links and you'll find out what is there. In some cases, however, you'll have to do the asking yourself. For example, to search the 'Possum Yellow Pages:

1. Click on the Yellow Page Possums link.
2. Type opossum as the Business Name you want to find.
3. Select a State in which you want to search. If you want to search in all the States, click on Alabama, scoot down to Wyoming, holding down the Shift key as you scoot.
4. Click the Find It! button.

If everything works, you'll find all U.S. businesses that contain the word opossum.

And, you might want to search on the word possum also.

It's only after you ask the question that the engine goes out and looks for you.

These hightail it engines are useful as long as the right questions are asked. That's not always easy to do. Apologies to all you Possum Dixon fans, but in lots of cases the 'Possum Network has set things up so that we don't hightail it to your favorite Possum Dixon sites. In fact, we might ask the engines not to look for those sites.

Thoughtful Possum Links (Ask a Thoughtful Person)

Thoughtful Possum sites are put together by humans, not machines. There are several outposts out there on the Internet that thoughtfully look at the Virginia Opossum. These sites are highly recommended.

Possum Network (Ask an Opossum)

Perhaps the most information on opossums can be obtained from other opossums. Generally, you'll have to go to the Possum Network outpost on the Internet to get this sort of information. Honorary membership - Honorary Possum membership that is - is available to all kids and to the occasional adult.
