We've got a bit of interspecies relations to present here. And some of it's great fun. Such as why Teddy Bear (excuse me, President Teddy Roosevelt) almost had to move aside when Billy Possum arrived. But we've also got some stuff here that takes a bit more reflection. Take a serious look at opossums and how we folks (us humans) have interacted with opossums in the creation of American culture. How sometimes its been fun, but sometimes it's been a sad and hurting thing. A thing where we've used the opossum to make some of us feel grand at the hurtful expense of others. And examine also how the opossum is treated according to the law. Because sometimes the most dangerous thing is when people just don't see you at all. |
